This past weekend we went and explored downtown Cleveland. We checked out Tower City, the monuments and fountains, the downtown library and the old Arcade. We had a great time. The traffic and dirt was much less than Chicago but enough to remind me that I do not miss city life one little bit. Especially that wet gross scent that you catch (and drips on you) when you are under the El tracks....yuck.
Here is Emmett in the toy store in Tower City. He thought this giraffe was a real live baby giraffe.

This was in the parking lot. When I asked the kids their favorite thing from the day Henry and Bridget both said that this was their favorite thing while Emmett was still talking about the "awesome water thing" (the drain filled with nasty fountain water). It never ceasing to amaze me what children notice and enjoy that are off the beaten path.
This was inside the arcade. While the building was beautiful the closed stores really made the economic downturn obvious.
But they had a place to buy juice!
And a place to sit down and be silly.

Bridget is always willing to play Vanna White.
But, sometimes it tires her out.
We also found a Boarders that was closing in Tower City and got some good books. But, my favorite part of the day was the little girl crying in front of the gum machine. Not because she was crying but because Henry gave her a quarter he brought from his piggy bank so that she could buy a piece of gum. I didn't even know he had money in his pocket until it was gone! I was so impressed by his generosity.
